If you might be hiding the popular contests in the future, that gives me more motivation to enter the one I want to early lol. I think people really love being featured here though, so I'd vote against hiding the popular ones. But you do put the popular ones at the bottom of your newsfeed posts so the less popular ones are at the top. I think that helps.
