The Echo of Old Books by Barbara Davis Plot: Ashley Greer, owner of An Unlikely Story, a rare bookstore in Portsmouth, New Hampshire was gifted with the rare ability--- psychometry, --- to discover facts about a person or events by touching something associated with them. When she comes into possession of two companion books that read like letters from one author to the other and written 30 years prior, her gift comes alive as she feels conflicting emotions with each book’s energy. Why I Chose This Book: Well, it’s about books.... What I Liked About This Book: The concept is intriguing. I had never heard of psychometry before. I had to look it up to see if it was real. Apparently, it is, but very rare. I was drawn into the lives of Belle, the daughter of a powerful New York businessman and Hugh, an author and newspaper reporter and I was looking forward to seeing if they would find their way back to each other. What I Didn’t Like About This Book: The original story line was beautiful, but unfortunately, the author decided to include a secondary relationship within its plot. This took away from the original story and made the book much too long. Rating: I would rate this book 3 ½ stars. |
