You certainly don't get shark in Europe. I suppose it's a local thing, either in NYC, or – more particular – in Queens itself.

Nah, actually it was quite meaty (didn't crumble like fish usually does when cutting it), and didn't taste particularly like fish. It has something faintly of cod or halibut in taste, but also something unique I cannot really pin. The pieces were round in shape, and you cut off the meat along the vertebra in the middle.
I made waiters and other guests laugh when I said that I'm gonna be in the evening news: woman eats shark – not the other way round.
