What's the point of writing if we don't write what we like, right? I mean... except for school, I guess. Got to prove we can string sentences together with grammar and whatnot.
That's honestly why I want to write a play about her! It would be so easy to stage it like a silent movie at first, then bring in voices when she wants to tell her story. She is one of film's great pioneer and the first women! And yet she's almost completely forgotten. AND she directed one of the earliest, if not the earliest, film starring an all black cast. She's fascinating. I'm just glad I have a theater person in Serpents, so I can channel any breakthrough obsession through Charlie.
