I never win those raffle things anyway, so I might as well go for the Reviewer's prize and concentrate on the reviews. Having to search for tiny little niggles to make suggestions about is incredibly time-wasting and it detracts from the proper congratulations due to those pieces that are virtually flawless. It's not my style to harp on about typos and genre choices. I'll tell 'em when there are bad mistakes and things that really spoil a piece, but no more nit-picking for me. I understand the good intention behind the challenge but I think, in the end, it's not good for the reviewer in that it encourages an over-insistence on tiny errors that don't matter, while the reviewed don't gain much from being told about the occasional typo. Sorry, but it's what I think. If you can show me where I'm going wrong, I'll listen and change my opinion. |
