Noticing Newbies

I just found this place today after searching around for places to get my work out there, and it seems like it'll be a kind community here.

I've been writing for almost ten years now, working on finding my style and figuring out what kind of stories I want to write, though I think I've finally gotten to the point of refining that style. I mostly enjoy writing sci-fi and fantasy stories dealing with a variety of topics, from mythologies to the stumbles in developing a new technology. I also enjoy reading these kinds of stories, and right now, my favorite books are the Temeraire Saga by Naomi Novik, and the Pendragon series by D.J. Machale.

Apologies in advance if anything I say comes across as stilted or impolite, or maybe even overly polite, I'm not used to interacting in social spaces like this one. Regardless, I'm looking forward to learning a lot from everyone here, as well as finding stories I can add to my list of favorites.
