Another factor is that there are plenty of people who would be plenty happy to steal somebody else’s life for a little while, but I feel like most people wouldn’t want to give up their own life permanently. It’s much easier to use the masks to take relatively short dips into other lives than it is to say, “I’m abandoning the life and identity of Will Prescott forever and fucking off to Hollywood, peace out.”

In regards to parents, Will’s dad is one of my favorite characters in the setting, so I’m always really happy when he pops up. It’s honestly somewhat strange how little we even know about his mom when you consider how important his dad is in a handful of stories, and even when you just consider that she’s the main character’s mother lol.

In regards to the Catherine parents thing, Seuzz basically said that if he had to come up with a reason to explain it, it’s that Catherine’s parents are there, they just doesn’t do anything to merit Will noting them, and that Catherine and her friends know how to keep the rowdy elements out of the way during times when it’s not supposed to be a full scale party, so her parents don’t mind having kids around.
