The chocolate bunnies were torn open and they no longer had ears. Cindy’s face quickly cycled from shock to anger to almost tears. “Who would do such a thing?” she said. She picked up the basket and walked briskly out of her room. She went over to her sister Anna on the couch and thrust the basket at her. “Whoa, what happened to their ears?” Anna said. “Did you happen to them?” Cindy accused. “I don’t eat the ears first,” she said. “I like to start at the feet so their faces still look cute if I don’t want any more.” “Maybe you wanted mine because you ate yours already. Look at them! There’s teeth marks! I can’t even look at them,” Cindy turned her face. “I did eat mine. Maybe someone couldn’t resist because they were hanging around too long. Maybe it was mom,” Anna shrugged. “Mom? Mom wouldn’t do that. Maybe you couldn’t resist,” Cindy said. “It wasn’t me,” Anna said and pushed the basket away. “Stop accusing me. You can’t prove a thing either way so just get over it.” Did mom really chew her bunnies’ ears off? No, it had to be Anna. She looked at the teeth marks and got an idea. ----- When mom came home, Cindy ran to her. “Mom, I made a delicious frosted brownie. Here,” she held it out to her. “Take a bite.” “Oh, looks yummy,” mom said and took a big bite. “Be right back,” Cindy said and ran to her room. Comparing the bite marks, there was no doubt. Mom was the bunny mutilator! “You ate all the ears off my bunnies!” she cried. “How could you do that?” “It was so much fun,” Mom laughed. “Get over it, Cindy. You’re 25! Too old for Easter baskets anyway.” WC 300 |
