Where all you have to do is read books to receive awesome prizes. |
Fascinating. I love this review. I feel I've learned about the protagonists in this book without even reading it. I love to learn about people. As fo "no good Germans," I think it's sad the veteran said that. I can understand how, after being constantly fed the lie that 'all Germans are Nazis and that is why you're fighting them,' that would be his outlook and perspective. False as it is. In every situation, there are 'good' people and 'bad' people. More frequently, people who aren't wholly one or the other. I have to confess to finding this period of time fascinating. I remember reading 'Schindler's Ark' at school (before they changed the name to 'Schindler's List'). Oskar Schindler did amazingly good work and saved a lot of people's lives. But he wasn't entirely a 'good' person. There is always black and white. A couple of years ago, I read 'The Tattooist Of Auschwitz.' Lale was just one, average guy, fighting against the regime in his own, quiet way (the only way he could). His story really really moved me. Anyway, I'm rambling now because you got me on a subject that interests me a lot. Thank you for your review. ![]() |
