Witch & Wizard
I've been reading Witch&Wizard by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet, a YA Dystopian Sci-Fi novel about two teenagers in a lost world.

The very good selling book is 5 hours and 41 minutes long in the English version (I borrowed it from the library in the German version, which is 352 pages, and couldn't find out more about the length of the English version) and is rated 4.3 stars on Amazon. It is #10 in the Dystopian Sci-Fi for Children category and #26,772 in Audible Books & Originals. The book was published in 2009.

The characters in the story are fictional. It is written in the present tense and in the first person perspective. The book is very exciting.

The book is primarily about the siblings Whit and the rebellious Wisty (their real names are Whitford and Wisteria) who live in a world ruled by a dictator (The One). At the beginning of the first volume, they are kidnapped because it is implied that they are wizard and witch. We see their efforts for a just world. We see them struggling to be free and to free others accused while facing the death penalty on several occasions. We see Whit mourn his early girlfriend Celia, who was also killed, and how he will do anything to see her. Magic, rebels, hellhounds, drumsticks and the New Order also feature in the book.

I particularly like the world, the characters and the theme because all three work perfectly together and draw the reader into a spell from which they don't get out any time soon. The very short chapters make you want to read just one more. Almost every one ends in an interesting or exciting way - you just have to keep reading!
You have to remember, however, that this is the prelude to a series. Also, it's a young adult book. But I really enjoy reading books for young people because I write some myself.

If you like books about lost worlds and forbidden gifts, YA fantasy or YA sci-fi and suspense novels or books with lovable, rebellious characters with magical abilities and deep-rooted inner conflicts, I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed it very much.
