Rach's Reading Club

In the past, when trying to write a review for something after I've started the next book and brain dumped the last one, I've found other people's reviews and read through them as well as the Amazon descriptions to help me. That page is also REALLY behind on MBs. I mentioned it last year, I think it was. I was told to contact a different person and I did and never heard back. Whatever.

I should have probably mentioned in my ad for your book club that folks can jump in the fray at any time. I'll try to remember to do that next time.

I'd previously chosen this book for my library, but hadn't gotten into it yet. When I decided to listen to it for your book club, I wasn't super into the idea. You know how you have to be in a mood for this or that. But it was well-rated, so I figured it was probably good. It was a lot better than I expected...not that I expected it to be bad. I just expected it to be informational, not so fascinating.

One part that I find horrible and also disturbingly fascinating is when Mary Queen of Scots was sending secret messages to her lover. They were discovered and her embroidery was actually used in court to convict him. WOW! Well, THAT would suck! What was originally intended to be a secret code telling someone you love them...and want to overthrow your cousin...suddenly becomes evidence. Poor guy...Also, how was he supposed to understand the code if others couldn't? And if he could, shouldn't it stand to reason that others could? Oh, well...

Anyway, it was a great book. But I'm sure you get a LOT of great book suggestions on here. Mine should all be great books because I don't generally buy a book that doesn't have a 4.5 or higher rating anymore. My Audible library is too big to have even 4.4 rated books. I will occasionally get one if it seems totally like something I'd love or it's about a subject that's hard to find other books about. But I definitely don't get 3.9 rated books, no matter how amazing they sound. So, with 98% of my library rating 4.5/5 or higher, I know whatever I choose will be a great one.
