Oh, for sure, you nailed Natalie being very believably teenager. That type of character just really doesn't jive with me. I've read the Ursula route now, the one that involves cousin Priscilla near the end—I'm pretty sure that's the one you meant?—and I agree. Though it was mostly only jarring in the last chapter or so. I liked Ursula's ambition for self-development—well, magic power development, but still—and how she and Will were much more balanced in helping each other, in pursuit of much cooler goals than usual. It's actually a route I can see written like a slowburn—the romance part anyway. I quite enjoyed Ursula's refusal to put on a mask: could've been an interesting dynamic with one of them never changing her face while always seeing her love no matter what face was worn. I forget: has it been explored yet what auras Joe and Frank have? Because how that colors their relationship with the brothers and the Stellae can be minty. And I completely forgot I read that Izzy route. Or, well, I don't remember what I read being that 'romantic' per se: the impression I got was Izzy was having fun and liked Will but as a friend and tango/tonsil-hockey partner rather than actually becoming entangled like that. And Will is Will. Thanks for the links though! I've read a Cassie route too now: she's cute. She's fast-paced like Joe (but not as smart-aleck) or Natalie (but not as grating) or Alex (but not as off-the-walls). She's fun, and it's nice having the girl be devoted to/caring about/protective of Will first in the relationship. Oh, and I'll take the superficially Sapphic scenes/routes. Though Sydney/Will tends to be more like…porn more than romance. Which is fun. But. Updated romantic interests fave list so far-ish: Chelsea > Cassie > Ursula ~ Gloria > Frank > Kelsey > Joe > Sydney > Natalie > Izzy |
