"Chick Flick, Aloha Mysteries book 10" by Josi Avari https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FBGP5MH?ref_=dbs_m_mng_rwt_calw_tkin_9&stor... In this book, Saffron goes from being talked into a background movie part (as an extra) by her new friend (will she be featured more in an upcoming book? ![]() This book had more romance than usual because the movie was a romantic comedy so there were romantic scenes and there was a romance besides Saffron's that was super interesting to me. The movie making was interesting and part of the story. It was nice to learn some things without being bored with details like some books do. Josi keeps the action moving along. Because of an overzealous paparazzi, Saffron had misleading pictures of her and the romantic film star published (without the star's or her knowledge or consent) and Nik broke up with her and his secret love was super mad at him and Saffron. So a different kind of romantic tension than usual. And worse... Keahi is marrying Evelyn. But there's some foreshadowing that maybe the young new veterinarian is interested in Saffron. I did figure out the who early on but the why really surprised me (of the murder). It was nice to have some scenes of Saffron back on her Happy Chicken Farm too. And of course, her dad and Mano were back and I loved that the Empress was back and Saffron's gift to her will surely make you smile if you read this book. I enjoyed it. If I could eat cake, oh would I want to eat the cake described in the book too! Josi does a great job describing the delights of Hawaii. Maybe that's part of why I like this series so much. It's like a mini vacation combined with mystery and a touch of romance, even if the romance never seems to go the way I want for Saffron. |
