I struggle with the older books. I read "Jekyll & Hyde" last year, and I almost gave up. I also find myself thinking, "That's not good grammar. That's not phrased well." I drive myself half crazy! With regards to the year, I'm not going to be too strict about it. As long as the book is round about the 100 years mark, that's fine.
