It should not be a matter of ideology or politics, but rather a matter of philosophy.

An introduction of sorts

As I speak today, it is the twelfth of October, 2021. I have spent much of the last two months putting together my responses to the first two debates that I wished to address, the 1984 debate at the Universit of Toronto, presented by the Ayn Rand Institute, and the 1986 debate at Geroge Washing University in Washington, D.C. and presented by the George Washington University Objectivist Club.

In the first debate, the socialists were represented by Dr. Jill Vickers and Dr. Gerald Caplan. To be honest, I was not particularly impressed by their performances, and yet gave a good degree of information that was useful in my responses. The capitalists were championed by Dr. Leonard Peikoff, the supposed heir to Ayn Rand, and Dr. John Ridpath. information on all of the speakers is contained in the information presented.

The second debate was very similar to the first and was held two years afterward. with a similar structure and presentation. Mr. Christopher Hitchens and Mr. John Judis were the speakers for the socialists, and Dr. Harry Binswanger and Dr. John Ridpath, the only repeat speaker, for the capitalistic perspective. I was very interested in hearing Mr. Hitchen's views since I had read many of his views on god and atheism in my investigations into the subjects of religion and spirituality. I am sorry to say, once again, that I found his presentation to be inferior to my expectations. I continue my search for a legitimate representation of the socialistic mindset.

You can find the first debate here:

The perpetual conflict between the individual and the collective continues

I am working on the second debate and it should be up shortly.

These issues are not for the faint of heart, or for those looking for a four-minute read. the debates are both almost two hours in duration, and my comments attempt to respond to as much of their comments as possible, This was, in concept, a long-standing intention to address and discuss what has been so difficult to do in open forums about the subjects, and the morality thereof. it has been difficult, over the last three decades, to have what would characterize as a reasoned argument about a very integral concept that our society, and the society of the entire planet, need to debate and resolve. Six thousand years of civilization has had a difficult time coming to terms with the alternatives and has very little to show for that time and effort.

We will not be coming to any revelation anytime soon, but I remain dedicated to having a conversation and trying to understand how we can come to conclusions to create an environment in our own lives that will bring some degree of peace and happiness for ourselves, and those around us.
