Shout out right back at you. One of the reasons I like exploring ends that most readers don't care about is someone went to a lot of effort creating these characters, breathing life into them, and to neglect them feels criminal. One of the big things that demotivates me is when it's clear that it's a strong minority that feel the same way. When you put in the equivalent of a novel in your spare time every year, and people are just like "yeah, not interested in it", or worse, openly insult your work, it makes you give up.
So if someone has created an area of the world that isn't fleshed out, I try and make sure it has life. One thing I am very keen to do, as a big sports fan, is to stage some mask shenanigans around a game - basketball, football, whatever. But the feeling that nobody gives a rats ass is a strong motivator not to bother. So I just wrote a few chapters on a branch I'd been working on instead.
