The Contest Challenge

Someone else was just asking about applying the same entry to two contests and I said no. Your post made me think again about if that's the right answer and if so, why. I appreciate it.

I'll count what you've done, but I still say that, except for things like The Second Time Around Contest that allow previously written entries, each contest entry should be written for that contest. While it's in the spirit of part of the challenge to enter the same item into 2 different contests because I'm trying to get entries for them. But it's not in the spirit of catching up. The rewards are pretty big and it's not fair for two people to get the same reward if they have done every single month since it began because they joined from the very beginning and have worked diligently without the option to count things for other months vs. a person who is smart and able to think outside of the box, like you, and maybe only writes 45 contest entries instead of 60 like the other person.

I've already had complaints about people being allowed to catch up at all, but my argument was that if they do just as much work, they should get just as much reward. Plus, if I don't allow catching up, eventually no one will be able to participate in the giant celebration in January because no one who was with me from the very beginning will be left participating.

So, while I respect your trying to think of ways to finish faster, this isn't one I can condone for the future. But since you didn't know, I'll count what you've already applied. Good try and keep at it!
