Subujava I have just figured out that you get points if you leave a few kind words at the bottom of a piece that you have read and liked.
there is also a setting page (don't ask me how I got to it because I don't know) where you can set your default values. and amongst the options is to join the mixer which seems to increase that accumulation of points
