I spent fifteen minutes typing out a five paragraph entry, then it got deleted somehow. I was only going to type half of my goal, but went all the way because I didn't want to have one and a half the amount of words to type tomorrow. I came up with a lot of stuff that I wouldn't have if I had outlined my story, pantsing is the better method for me.
Stephen King uses that method, and so did Rod Serling. When he was writing for the Twilight Zone, Rod Serling dictated the whole story into a microphone, and his secretary typed it up, then he looked it over and re-typed it.
Going by the seat of my pants helped me yesterday and tonight, with some back story on the family of some of the characters important to my story.
