“They’ve put their people into places of unchecked power. They have them poised to take away our freedom. They have effectively created Minority Rule that borders on Oligarchy.”

“Are you scared?”

“Of course I’m scared! Aren’t you?”

“No, no I’m not.”

“They ignore science, and reason, and common sense and decency. And you aren’t scared?”

“No. I don’t need to be.”

“How is that?”

“Because I helped put them where they are. Because they told me that they aren’t the ones that I should be afraid of. Because they talk to me like my friends talk to me, and they like what I like, and they hate what I hate. Because they told me that I should trust them. They told me that they could solve all my problems, that they could give me a better job, that they could make me rich, that they could keep me safe, that they could save the country, that they could save the world.”

“And you actually believe that?”

“Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”

“Because they never said they WOULD.”
