I seem to have accumulated three books about the plague. Why I ask myself, would I be interested in that? And these were in my library before this current scourge. And we think we have it bad with this pandemic. Let me tell you, this is a 'cakewalk' compared to the Black Death of the Middle Ages. Now that is not to make light of all those suffering and dying out there, that is not my intent.
Some cities had a quarantine of forty days, as did some ships in ports of entry. Some cities were completely wiped out by the disease.
One book talks about the great bubonic plague as well as yellow fever, syphilis, malaria, smallpox, leprosy, and other fun topics. This is my bedtime reading material these days. Cheery and uplifting.
