I had a great politics post, but lost it. Darn. But I had this copied.

The Cultural Revolution, formally the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, was a sociopolitical movement in China from 1966 until 1976. Launched by Mao Zedong, Chairman of the Communist Party of China (CPC, commonly referred as the Chinese Communist Party, CCP), its stated goal was to preserve Chinese Communism by purging remnants of capitalist and traditional elements from Chinese society, and to re-impose Mao Zedong Thought (known outside China as Maoism) as the dominant ideology in the CCP. I remember the Little Red Book by Chairman Mao. It contained his quotes. Truly a horrible time for China, it led to famine and death of millions as well as destruction of many cultural and religious artifacts. But he also is credited for driving our imperialism, giving more power to women, improving education and health care.

So I would love to see someone do a world state with these sociopolitical ramifications! Once again, it is hard to outdo real life!
