This irregular contest will change each round. Nature poem? Horror story? Whatever. |
Yes, there is definitely a difference between drafting it and making it all legal. Though, if there's no reason for anyone to contest it, especially since you know more or less what it should say legally, since you already have one, maybe create a new one for the time being and give it to everyone who might be involved or have an interest. Make sure everyone is clear on things and there are no questions or complaints. That should cover you until you can get an appointment. In reality, your will probably isn't filed anywhere that some agency or whatever will pull it out and be like, "NO! That one everyone else is holding isn't valid because she didn't get to the lawyer in time!" The main point of a will is to protect your wishes against arguing. If everyone is on the same page, it shouldn't be a problem. Not saying you shouldn't see a lawyer. Just saying that after you make your will, but haven't seen a lawyer yet, there are things you can do to protect your wishes before they become legal. Thanks for bringing this up! I guess I need to make this contest a longer one. Maybe even set it into parts. I probably need to do some will research. lol Maybe I'll make a checklist and folks can participate a bit each month or every few months or something. What do you think? And be sure to check out my challenge
