And yet it wasn't a waste of time. You could almost think of the prep like a trial run for your characters. By the time you get to November, you know them so well that you're ready to figure out what they *really* would to do!

I've heard it said that most important discoveries in research labs don't sound like, "Eureka! I've got it!" but rather, "Gee, that's funny..." And yet the discovery would never have been made where the researcher not in the lab in the first place.
