I'd have to say I'd describe JM as careless, rather than reckless. If only because I have to save words like reckless to describe Hal Swann.
We might go further and suggest she lacks empathy. That's a really interesting idea, because when it comes to the more unpleasant spells in the Libra, JM might find herself quite unfettered. Writing such a character is challenging - doubly so in first or second person perspectives - because if you aren't careful the character's attitudes can be a turn off to the reader.
As for Will: His Sulva nature, and Stellae training if he has it in a branch, push him towards leaving no trace of his passing. I can't imagine that he would work well with JM at all. I made some remarks earlier about how the book keeps trying to drag in Will, so that would be a very easy character conflict to explore.
If he had to step in for her though? Well, he'd probably act with the same whiney entitlement - just to make sure no one noticed the difference. There might be some editorialising in his inner monologue though...
