This far into the month, I needed a break from all this novel prep stuff.
I received my brother's library over 800 books recently. Two days ago I picked up one to read by Donald E. Westlake, 'Humans'. His introduction said he switched from his usual and well-known type of novels due to a dare.
I was quite let down at that news, since I am an avid 'Dortmunder' fan. What a treasure this turned out to be. It combines gallows humor (no-one does humor like Weslake) with sober and studied research into its topic matter.
What makes the find especially rewarding is that I am viewing each page from a writer's perspective as well as enjoying it as a good read.
