As we embark upon our first couple of character assignments, the question of believability becomes relevant. Everything you read about character development says that if your characters aren't believable, your readers won't be invested in your story.
In A Series of Unfortunate Events, Count Olaf frequently dresses in disguise. He fools the adults around him, but the children are never fooled.
The believability of both the plot and the characters is highly questionable and yet the story is beloved by millions and it's even a Netflix miniseries now.
