I am old enough to have to look at this question backward. How much control should kids have over there aging parents and when? The two questions offer the same solution. Never complete control or you lose spontaneity and the creative spirit which feasts on exploring the sense of individuality and growing expression of self-worth. Never no control at all or risk being responsible for death, social irresponsibility, and testing boundaries that define cultural imperatives. Let the courts define the parameters requiring intervention where natural bonds of affection and family fail. Using a recognized system outside the family offers more objective vision (when done at its best) bound by law.
