Hate to break it to you Phyllis but your poem is written in "iambic tetrameter". The syllable count got you there but the natural rhythm of your speech, put you over the top. Iambic = "da Dum" is the pattern of where the stress falls, tetra meaning 4 stresses per line. When the element states "iambic tetrameter" it is "Accentual Syllabic", the measure of the line being 8 syllables with the rhythm of da Dum da Dum da Dum da Dum. Read your poem out loud, that is exactly what you did.
Nice poem by the way and I didn't have any difficulty following the link to Poet's Garret but I'm pleased to see you used my description of the form PMO, which gives more information, especially the regarding the theme and the alternative rhyme schemes that Poet's Garret didn't address.
