I want to be clear on what I said above, about writing for musicians *as* musicians. Mostly I feel handicapped by a lack of knowledge of what goes on in musical group practice; and the one time I did try writing something, I felt like the product when too deep into the weeds without bringing back anything that had much appeal.
But I totally get the appeal of strongly conveying what it would be like to be into the music *as* a musician. Much of the appeal of a BoM-type story is in the impersonation, and impersonation of something fairly alien to the impersonator would be a cool thing to get across.
