Hello
by A Non-Existent User
Hey, my names Thomas, Im happy to be here once again so I can start to develop some different works and see if I can learn a thing or two about building a good novel summary that I can hopefully tinker with into the coming years.

I dont have much experience in writing I admit, coming in at maybe 10 poems and half a dozen short stories but I like to think that I catch on pretty well. Ive been a social recluse for most my life so my character dialogue has really suffered from that in what I write and im slowly trudging my way through the specifics.

I remember scanning through tons of books in the past, trying to find the right one but usually becoming dissapointed after spending up to 2 hours in the library and hardly finding anything that peaked my interest longer than the length of the book description on the back or the side flap. I always felt like "geeze, is this it, it seems so... bland, so customary and too much like the life I was always wanting an escape from.

I always told myself "man ive got to be able to come up with something good" but whenever I first starting diving into it a couple years ago I kept either getting sidetracked or burnt out, afraid to even reread my own works or take my time to go more in depth with the story, just "telling" the reader what happened instead of helping them to dive in and become ingrained into the universe. Never waiting to straighten it up but really just tossing it out there without any revision or examination of the flow for hopes of a mediocre review to spur me on.

The more I got into it the more complex it seemed to get as far as providing a good hook, describing the characters, the scenery, correlating the words and actions just right to get a good emotional pull from the reader, making everything accurate to the varying personalities, goals, strengths, and weaknesses of each person based on what they do/say/think.

Its easy to say that I was put off by the challenge initially but im definitely looking forward to spitting out a bare bones summary and seeing how it adapts and grows everytime I come back to it, theres nothing like seeing a harsh story start to take form over time, watching as it begins to take on a life of its own.

I look forward to meeting new people and reading what this site has to offer, strengthen my skillset, and have fun along the way in what im sure is bound to be arduous. Best wishes to all you writers out there and take care :)
