Anima is not physical, but David is. He's just as physical as a person, a dog, a spider, a puddle of water, etc. It's just that he can bind himself to other people and take control of them, even if he has been divided into non-contiguous pieces. (That's the part that doesn't make any sense.) So he could merge with anyone and get everything they've got. This includes the Stellae, so if he possessed them he'd get their powers. Inside a body, he could also use the masks to disguise those bodies, make and order golems about, etc. A mask, meanwhile, couldn't copy him, because masks are designed only to be able to copy human beings. The sigils could be modified, though, so as to copy a thing of his form, so an advanced student of that form of magic could fashion a mask that could copy David, and using that mask turn himself into the same kind of goop with the same skill set. >> The conversation between Caleb and Eva is probably the only thing in the SB continuity that would also happen in the BoM continuity. (Without the whole possession thing, of course.) That conversation can probably be thought of as canonical in BoM. But it likely takes place before BoM starts—my intuition is that "Gossip Girl" occurs on the Monday before the Thursday that Will finds the Libra—and it really doesn't impinge on anything. |
