I just renewed an item alias I own that had expired in 2014. I noticed that the new expiration date was in 2015, a year after I had let it expire. The GP cost for renewal is very reasonable, so I renewed enough for the alias to be current again, but I wondered if it were possible instead, when an alias has expired, to just add a year of renewal time from the date the renewal is purchased? That’s what I had assumed would happen when I renewed, so I can imagine someone might be a little surprised at having to pay for the years the alias went unused.
