Yeah, I'm skeptical about a subreddit. Someone basically tried making one—that's the thread that I found where the only replies were ones bitching about how inaccessible WdC makes things. I'm not ruling out a subreddit eventually, but only after I've figured out some way to make BoM more accessible and more newbie-friendly. On the "Books" idea. I've had a notion like that in the back of my head for a long time, but I've always tripped up over the complexity. It's not just a matter of splitting BoM into 30 books. It's that they overlap. Where you have diverging storylines, how do you handle the divergence and the overlap? Does one book get all the chapters, with a new, shorter book starting at the point of divergence? Or do you write two complete books, and at the point of divergence each book has a link pointing to the divergent chapter in the other book? The only way I'd like to tackle that problem is by starting with a central "book", and then seeing in a concrete way how alternate books could hook onto it. That's one reason I'm asking for suggestions of storylines that would make a good first introduction. |
