Oh my I just saw this! Just got online I have the maid coming today (my very first one and I'm a nervous wreck). This is beyond egregious. At this point, I would circumvent the police and go to the county (free) mental health facility. While it's true they can't tell YOU anything that doesn't mean you cannot tell THEM something about one of their patients that you HAVE witnessed yourself regarding his son. Hopefully that will get you to his case worker, you would just use his address. If you could just get his case worker to hear what he's been doing... I know it is an extreme longshot... but if he's being treated there at all, they might be receptive. Then THEY call the cops. cops alone, without any system or program in place? I guess don't have the authority there. You could file a formal complaint at the police station though... must have it in writing to get much done these days.

Damn. I know how frustrating these situations are, from past neighbors of my own and my jobs and well erm FAMILY, but you have your family and yeah. YOU could even go see a licensed social worker or what do they call them therapist? Say its for you. Tell them about the situation and ask about the laws. They'll be more than happy to help. All requiring much on your part, but I like action– at least it might help but I really cannot see him out of hospital on his own with his kid for very long. You aren't the only one he's exhibiting this behavior to, obviously, but you may be his favorite
