I struggle with the same writing dilemma you do. I love descriptions and writing short scenes that never seem to come to anything. There’s no story and no conclusion. However, this month I am trying NaNoWriMo, where the challenge is to write a novel in a month, and I’ve found that an outline is really helping me keep on track! I never used to write with an outline, but now I feel confident that I’ll be able to wrap this story with a solid conclusion at the end. My descriptions are slacking a bit since I’m focusing on writing the plot elements, but I figure once the story skeleton is complete, I’ll go back and add those details.
You are in the right place if you want to practice with the support of others just like you! Take care and keep writing!
