Choconut I was like you, really! I still like just improvising much better, but with NaNo, I found out that the Prep helps me to write the darn thing in one month. Otherwise, I'd be lost. Also, I now find that I enjoy the Prep, a lot.
I still improvise on my own, in a physical notebook, and I love that freeflow, although not much, except babbling, comes out of it.
