50 GPs were sent to Arakun the twisted raccoon with this post.
Derrick stepped out from the car and pointed toward the trailhead. “There.” “Cloud Ridge,” read Tammy aloud. “We’ve tried this trail before, and you didn’t like it. You said it was too hard and that you didn’t see anything, although you didn’t give it a chance either. You didn’t want to bother.” “Well, someone told me about something up there I didn’t know about…” “What?” “It’s a secret.” “I already know about the cabins and the cliffs and the wildflowers. I once saw a family of bears there, a long time ago, but you stopped me from going back that time.” “Thanks for giving up something for me.” “Don’t thank me. If I could’ve gotten out of being trapped with you that time, I would have.” She sounded angry. “I was bored out of my mind, and you caused it. You specialize in ruining things I enjoy.” Derrick fell silent. They began the trail. Trees soon surrounded them in a silence broken only by birdsong and the sound of running water. Spring flowers filled the hillsides with a riot of colors, and the trail moved steeply up. Quickly Tammy, the fitter, more experienced hiker, began outdistancing Derrick. “Wait,” he cried. “You’ll miss the surprise if you don’t wait.” “I already know this trail, and I don’t need your surprise.” Tammy continued moving ahead. “I’m sick of you anyway.” Derrick, left behind, the ring box in his pocket, stopped, head dropped low. After Tammy had been gone from his view for a while, he turned around. [255 words] |
