I too suffer from anxiety. For years I was able to keep it at bay by not giving a crap about anything or anyone. I worked, and that's all I did. I've learned that it wasn't healthy, that I should have found a better way to deal with it, but at the time, I thought I was doing something I could do for the rest of my life, not care, not love. How wrong was I? Very. I'm glad you have found a few things that help, as well, you realized the drinking really didn't help. Along with causing more anxiety, I'm sure it only masked the issues you were having for the time being. It's good to hear you are in a healthier and happier relationship and she sounds understanding of you needing some space sometimes. It's nice to know we are wanted around, but it's also nice to know we have someone who understands it's not them, it's us and they are willing to give us that time to heal or at least breath for a moment. Hope you get over the driving thing too. I drive and although there are a few times I get anxious, I breathe, relax and hold tight the wheel.
