I like your perspective, Neva. Sort of looking at the episodes as challenges that you're going to beat. For some reason, I never thought about nature vs. nurture depending on the specific mental health disorder, but it totally makes sense. I mean, something like depersonalization-derealization disorder is often caused by something traumatic, so it makes sense that it would be a nurture disorder. I do wonder though if someone is predisposed in their DNA to develop a certain disorder as the result of trauma or if it's strictly nurture.
