Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for your introduction. I can't imagine anyone in my life not knowing about my mental health issues just because they're so outwardly obvious. They'd have to be in their own world to not notice.
It's awesome that you've found a medication that has worked so well for you for 18 years. I'm one of those people you mentioned who doesn't take their meds like they're supposed to. I take them for a while, then think I'm better and stop taking them. Not to mention I often think I can self-medicate better than doctors can treat me, so I go that direction.
I don't think you should go off your medication at any point since it works so well. The doctors would slowly wean you off of them if need be. I've been on a ton of meds and the withdrawal from a lot of them is rough, but even if you cold turkey stop taking them, you feel better within a couple weeks.
Well, better as in you no longer get physically ill without them.
