I was told today that Fight Club was also written in present tense.
In both cases, I've only seen the movie.
The few books I've read that were written in present tense have been disappointing. I suspect the books I mentioned above are well-regarded in spite of, not because of, their tense.
My takeaway from this is that good writers can pull it off, and exceptional writers can start trends with unfortunate consequences.
