If there's another way to build the "bonus" exercises into the Prep besides offering a novel review to Prep winners who complete all of the bonuses, I found the extra assignments very helpful. In general, the more thought and ideas I can generate, the better prepared I feel when NaNo arrives. I finished Prep very early this year, which is great . . . but I also feel like I have a ton left that I want to Prep.
Bonus ideas:
*add character list to outline (remember that whole "characters are hiding in the wings" thing? Spending time thinking about who's in each scene might draw them out)
*bring back scene drawings/perspectives
*possibly add in the 1 thing I'm getting out of this darn creative writing class I'm taking: daily freewrites, 10 minutes of non-stop brainstorming. Doesn't need to be daily, but others have asked for earlier/more brainstorming in the Prep, and this is a way to possibly add that in IN ADDITION TO the other assignments, rather than instead of.
*dialog only sketch to help build voice
