I seriously do not get protagonist and antagonist. I do get lead player and minor player. Maybe it's just words but I go into mental fog when I try to define who should be the lead throughout the story. In most cases, the lead spot is switched up a whole heck of a lot, and the "lead" player is just the one who is the thematic focus of the story.
In my case I have three characters vying for the lead position and I cannot get a handle on who is going to float to the top. It will sort itself out eventually, but right now it's a juggling match.
I get to count this October as the month where I make the distinction that I cannot follow a protagonist/antagonist format. Good luck to the rest of you who get it and can follow that format.
