By doing reviews for groups like the Power Reviewers and angel army, I haven't paid for a membership in years.
I do on occasion buy 10 dollars worth of gift points so I can do things like offer a months upgrade to the winner of a raffle. But, I rarely have to actually spend money on my own membership.

That is the point in this community. We support each other. If you do reviews you will get gift points and those gift points can be used to buy your membership. If you don't get enough but you do the reviews then you can get RAOK to help out. Some of us even gift them to people we know need them anonymously because we appreciate the person.

You couldn't pay me enough to make it worth taking the advertising dollars away from Storymaster and Storymistress and their young family. I pay not so much for the space, but so I don't have to see the ads. I don't want to see them. Do I get extra space? sure. Do I use it? You better believe it. But, this website isn't Youtube. If you want something like youtube go create it yourself. Youtube didn't used to be youtube. The running joke used to be that people were going to get rich off of youtube because nothing + nothing = something.

Our system works for us. It promotes reviewing and interacting. It is what brought us together as a community not just a bunch of people posting stuff and hoping to make a buck off of it. Do you know how many youtube channels are just people making fun of other people on youtube? You won't find that here. We help each other not tear each other down. So, if you want a system where that is acceptable then you can go make your own. You mess with what we have here and well, I think it's safe to say most of us will make you at least feel like you have been tarred, feathered and sent out on a rail.
