A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
October NaNo Prep is not just about fleshing out your novel ideas. It's also about getting yourself, your home, and everything else ready for the stress of November. So here are a few things you might want to tackle before November arrives. 1. Prepare your writing space. Dedicate a specific area to writing. Stock it with everything you need. Note pads, high lighters, pens, pencils, sticky notes, and whatever else you might need. This is important because you don't want to be in the middle of an amazing scene only to reach out and grab something you need that isn't there. 2. Clean the house. Take a weekend to deep clean the house. This way all those little things that might nag on you will be done before November gets here. 3. Research easy dinner ideas. Like to cook? Spend some time this month making bulk meals that can easily be frozen. Hate to cook? Start gathering up the menus for restaurants that deliver. See if you can recruit other family members to do the cooking a few days a week. Draft a loved one to be responsible for clean up. 4. Stock up on writing fuel. Chocolate, coffee, bribes, all the little snacks you reach for as you write should be bought sometime this month so you don't have to waste writing time to run to the store. 5. Spend some time this month with your friends and loved ones. You will be locking them out of your life for the next month, so take a little time now to reassure them that, yes, you love them dearly and to please forgive you for any transgressions that the next month might bring. Good luck my fellow Preppers. I wish you well on your Journey! |
