A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
I first started writing when I was 9 years old. I get the writing gene from my dad, who has written his share of poetry and short stories. He only had one of his children's stories locally published. Some of the high school students he taught turned his story into a play! I never got to see it, unfortunately, but I certainly heard plenty about it. My dad described it as a short and fun musical. This year, I've been writing out some knowledge I've gathered out in poetry form, knowledge about real world problems that are especially going on and on, never seeming to go away in my country, the United States. Gosh, what bogusness! We have money that's not backed by anything. The education system has become so rotten, etc! (I've been getting the word out in other methods too; podcasts, blog entries, being constantly active on Twitter, putting together music playlists...) There are many people haven't realized this; certain people who choose not to care or are oblivious (or both). They might never will, but I've started doing my part to encourage and help as many as I can online and offline to educate themselves. A little while back, I started to write out my knowledge in poetry format, as one way of getting people to think for themselves. I write about these different topics I've been researching on. Some are light hearted and satirical, and some are more serious, and brutally honest. Either way, I don't hold back on any verbal punches. I'm sickened and sometimes angry with the U.S. government. I'm certainly not pleased with how this election has been going, and I've been sickened and angry when I've learned the ugly truth about most education. I like this site, with the look and all the neat features on here. I'd like to say more, but I must go, for now. I've already started reading others' poetry. I hope to look at more of yours, maybe a few short stories too. I also hope to find like-minded people around here! :D |
