Many of the people who add chapters to interactive stories do not follow the instructions given by the owner. They tend to get upset when their work is deleted, and often lost because they didn't have a back-up copy. People who added after the offending chapter also lose their work.

Many of the people who add chapters to interactive stories do not follow the content rating set by the owner. When the site changes the content rating, the owner gets upset. Changing a content rating back -- when it's deemed worth the effort -- is a major hassle for the owner and the mods.

Considering the audience, it seems like an appropriate use of red to me.
