Open a program called Movie Maker. It comes with Windows (at least, it came with mine). There is a button at the top that says "Webcam Recording". Click that. It will take you to a screen with a red record button, a stop button, and a cancel button. Click record, say something, stop it. Then playback to see if it recorded audio.
If it did, then... you're good to go. Just read a poem and save it.
