I completely agree with ember_rain. I had my story planned out before I began prepping and I spent the first two or three days working on it. Then I realised I had a much better idea and I started over, catching up with the first few assignments. I'm so glad I did it (I know we're still in very early days at the moment!) because now I'm writing a book that excites me and I could write about forever.
So, what I'm trying to say is, do it. Find something you're happier with and write about it.
